Will your remote job stay that way 2022
Trying to find a new job where you can work from home? The pandemic prompted many job-seekers to look for remote or hybrid work, but how do you know whether the job you're applying for now will stay remote in the coming years?
Some of the biggest clues can come from a company’s competitors.
In my latest research — co-authored with Smith PhD student Jingwen Yang, Charles Ham of Indiana University, and Wenfeng Wang of City University of Hong Kong — we looked at work-from-home job postings and found employers are more likely to offer remote work when more of their peers already do so.
Many people like the option to work from home. According to research, some employees are even willing to accept lower wages in exchange for workplace flexibility. Several employers such as Airbnb noted their career pages receive considerably more views when a job description includes the flexibility to work from home.

Why did Steve from Blues Clues leave Original host Steve Burns shares why in emotional video
Since 1996, the "Blue's Clues" franchise has delighted viewers of all ages. The live-action and animated children's television show premiered on Nickelodeon, featuring Blue, an energetic blue dog, and her owner, Steve, played by Steve Burns.
The original series ran until 2006, and its revival "Blue's Clues & You!" aired in 2019 with a new host, Josh, played by Josh Dela Cruz.
However, this was not the first time the franchise had a change in hosts. In 2002, Steve left the program and was replaced by Joe, played by Donovan Patton, for the remainder of the original series.
For many years, fans wondered by Steve left "Blue's Clues," and after nearly 20 years, Burns addressed his unexpected departure from the show.

Week 15 NFL pick Can Bucs Tom Brady get healthy against Joe Burrow Bengals
As the NFL schedule winds down, the stakes throughout the league are rapidly going up.
The Kansas City Chiefs, Minnesota Vikings and San Francisco 49ers can all clinch their respective divisions in the coming days, while the Buffalo Bills and Dallas Cowboys can secure playoff spots of their own.
The New York Jets and Detroit Lions will cross paths in an interconference battle with surprisingly significant ramifications. Both teams are currently trying to end lengthy playoff droughts and battling to move into wild-card position ... but a loss will almost certainly bury one of them Sunday. The same seems to be true of the New York Giants' visit to the Washington Commanders, the NFC East rivals re-engaging two weeks after a 20-20 tie in the Meadowlands.
And then there are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The only team currently leading a division with a sub-.500 record, the Bucs (6-7) need to get on track quickly if they're to hold off the charging Carolina Panthers. But that won't be easy with Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals, owners of an AFC-best five-game winning streak, coming to Florida's Gulf Coast. Let's, uh, go, Tom Brady ...

2022 Election results live updates Control of Congress unclear
Here's where things stand on Wednesday. For the news as it happened on Election Day, read here.
President Joe Biden offered his first public remarks on the 2022 midterm elections Wednesday after the “red wave” that pollsters and analysts had been expecting failed to materialize.
“Democracy doesn’t happen by accident,” Biden said in a message posted on Twitter. “We have to defend, strengthen and renew it.”
With several races still too close to call, Biden said he would have more to say about the election this afternoon.
Here's what you need to know to get up to speed:
Republicans notch wins, but Dems try to fight 'red wave': The red wave of Republican victories that pollsters and analysts projected in the 2022 midterms had not yet come to shore by the time observers went to sleep on Tuesday night, with several of the most-watched midterm elections remaining too close to call.
Still waiting on House seats to determine control: By midday Wednesday, either side could not decisively claim control of Congress. House seats in New York and California didn't yet have a winner, nor did Senate seats in Georgia, Arizona and Nevada.

Global health Women and children pay heaviest price for gaping inequities
Data presented in the report show a clear and critical regression across virtually every major measure of childhood wellbeing, and many key indicators of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Since the last Every Woman Every Child Progress Report published in 2020, food insecurity, hunger, child marriage, risks from intimate partner violence, and adolescent depression and anxiety have all increased.

‘Protect the promise’
The report, titled Protect the Promise, is published by global partners, including the World Health Organization (WHO), UN Children’s Fund UNICEF, the UN sexual and reproductive health agency, UNFPA, Partnership for Maternal, Newborn & Child Health (PMNCH) and Countdown to 2030, as a bi-annual summary of progress in response to the UN Secretary-General's Every Woman Every Child Global Strategy for Women, Children's and Adolescents' Health.
An estimated 25 million children were either under-vaccinated or not vaccinated at all in 2021 – 6 million more than in 2019 - increasing their risk of contracting deadly and debilitating diseases.
Millions of children missed out on school during the pandemic, many for more than a year,... More

Killings and detentions of children in Iran must end, UN child rights committee urges
Committee members urged authorities to stop all violence against children, which is a clear violation of their rights, including the right to protest peacefully.

The nationwide protest movement began a month ago, following the death in custody of Mahsa Amini, who died after being arrested by Iran’s so-called morality police, for violating strict dress codes relating to her hijab.
Many of the videos which have gone viral from Iran, despite a crackdown on the domestic internet, show young women risking their lives in the street or in classrooms, defying authorities with protest chants criticizing clerical leaders.
Shot and beaten
Among the dead are a boy aged 11, and according to reliable witnesses, some children were shot with live ammunition, while others died after being beaten.
“Many families reported that, despite grieving for the loss of a child, they were pressured to absolve security forces by declaring that their children had committed suicide and making false confessions”, said the statement.
The Committee is also deeply concerned at reports that children have been arrested in schools and detained together with adults, and that some... More

Guterres calls for ‘sustained political commitment’ for a healthier world
To accomplish this, “wealthier countries and international financial institutions need to support developing countries to make these crucial investments”, said UN Secretary-General António Guterres.
In an address to the opening of the World Health Summit in Berlin, via a video message, he began by noting how poorly prepared most of the world is, for crises. The annual gathering is being hosted by the presidents of Germany, France and Senegal, alongside WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
Women’s burden
“Women have been among the hardest hit. They are shouldering an increased burden of care, in families and as frontline workers”, he said. But at the same time, many women has lost income due to job loss, and inadequate safety nets.
He said COVID and now the food, energy and financial shocks spinning out from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, are threatening the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, and poverty reduction efforts.
To advance the SDGs, “we must recalibrate multilateralism and strengthen global cooperation”, he added.
Failing the developing world
Too little is being invested in health and well-being and the “unbalanced... More
