A Beginner Guide For Playing The Rocket League Game
If you're new to Rocket League, this beginner guide will be perfect for you. We will discuss setting up your game to get the best possible Rocket League experience. Those who don't have any knowledge can take help from the BakkesMod trainer and also read this description carefully to get the best outcome.
Things To Understand
- Understand the category of the game:
First off, let's talk about the categories of our game: The main menu is where we can see that we have many choices of different modes and options to select from when we want to play a quick match or custom games with friends, just a few of these are Friendly Play, Ranked Play and Private Match. You also have other categories such as Garage, where players can see all collections, view cars they have obtained, or see their statistics.
- Setting up Game Options
Select the "Options" button in the main menu, which will open up a menu to adjust your in-game settings. Here you can adjust your controls, video, and audio settings to fit your preference.
- Understanding Controls
Since Rocket League features two different control styles, I will explain both of them and feature any buttons that could be used as default or customized for each of them.

- First control:
When the first controller is selected, and in first-person mode, the "W" button on your right hand is used to accelerate. The left thumbstick will steer, and the right thumbstick will brake.
- Second control:
When the second controller is selected, and in first-person mode, the "A" button on your left hand is used to accelerate. The right thumbstick will steer, while the left thumbstick brakes. Also, for this control style, the "X" button on your right hand is used to jump, and the "Y" button on your left hand is used to shoot.
To change controls after preset before the game begins:
First, go to the "Options" menu and select "Controls." Here you can customize any of your controls.
- Video and Audio Settings:
Next up are our video settings located in the "Options" menu under our Video Settings tab. Here you can adjust Screen Scale, Display Mode (Fullscreen or Windowed), Brightness, Gamma Level, and VSync Toggle.
- Gamepad Binds
Here, you can customize any controller settings you have previously chosen in the video settings. These are for binding to any input on any one of your controllers. There are no options to bind other players' controls because the game features different control styles. Also, this is still being updated, so please keep that in mind when trying to customize your binds.
Next up would be the customization settings that we can change in the "Options" menu under our Models & decals tab.
