The blinking of red light on Xfinity Routers is usually a result of lack of communication between the router and the modem. In addition, any issues at the ISP’s end can also trigger such errors. So, until you come with a solution, the red light will continue to flicker and you will not be able to connect to the internet. Read on to explore the various ways by which you can fix this problem.
Various Ways to Fix the Blinking of Red Light
Now that you have an idea of the various reasons that can trigger the blinking of red light in Xfinity routers, follow the below-mentioned ways to resolve the issue:
- Reboot the router; however, if you don’t know how to reboot Xfinity Router, press the power button to turn the router off.
- Disconnect the router’s power adapter from the electric socket and connect it after two minutes.
- If the red light is still blinking, check if there is any physical damage to the Ethernet cable that connects the router and your modem. Replace the Ethernet cable if required.
- If the issue of red light still persists, reset the router. Press and hold the reset button of the router for 10 seconds and release it. You will find the reset button at the rear end of the router.
- After 10 seconds, you will notice that the status lights of the router flicker and the router restarts.
After resetting the router, you need to perform an Xfinity Router login in order to reconfigure it. All you need to do is log into the router admin console using the default login credentials and access the various tabs to make the necessary changes to the router settings.
