Unfortunately, they do, and a lot of people are very grateful for the protection that their little friends can provide. As we all know, without these creatures in the neighborhood, many of our most common problems would become much worse problems indeed.
One of the things that makes ants so intriguing is that they are so easy to get rid of. In fact, it has been estimated that the average American will eliminate more ants in one year than they will in their entire lifetime. That's great news! If you live in an area where agriculture or farming takes place, then you would want to make sure that there is not a lot of vegetation anywhere near the house. That way, it would be hard for them to access the food that they need to survive.
If you do not live in an area where agriculture or farming occurs, then you would still want to try and keep the vegetation low. You would do this by taking trees out and cutting them back. This would take care of a lot of the ants that would be coming around after you took out the trees. As you can imagine, cutting down trees can be very expensive and would require a lot of manpower. Plus, if you accidentally cut down a particularly large tree, you would end up with a huge mess that could take weeks to clean up. Therefore, while this might seem like a good idea initially, it is not a very practical solution.
