Types of Urologic Diseases
Today, numerous diseases are on the rise due to peoples` lifestyles, genetic disorders, aging, and other causes. Some of such diseases include urologic diseases. They are conditions that affect parts of the human genitourinary system involved in carrying and filtering. They affect people of all ages and classes. From men to women, the old and children. Therefore, they are unselective and can affect anyone. Urologic diseases are broad and cover infections and development in key areas of the genitourinary system. Some of these diseases include;
Urinary incontinence. This is a urologic disease caused by the failure of the bladder to function effectively. The condition is high especially during pregnancy, childbirth, and to diabetes victims.
Kidney and ureteral stones. Kidney stones occur in the kidney and sometimes they move to the ureter thus becoming ureteral stone. These stones obstruct the urine flow thus thereby bringing pain when voiding.
Urinary tract infection. This infection arises when bacteria, fungus, viruses or other disease-causing agents invade the urinary tract. This disease causes burning and smelly urination. It also increases the frequency and urgency of urinating.
Benign prostatic Hyperplasia. This arises due to an increase in the size of the prostate gland and it is highly common in old men. Men with benign prostatic hyperplasia experience frequent urge for urination. They also have a weak stream of urine.

Hematuria. This is the presence of blood in the urine. Hematuria can be of two types: If the blood in urine is visible it is termed as gross hematuria. However, if the urine appears normal and the red blood cells in the urine can be seen through a microscope, it is termed as microscopic hematuria.
Prostatitis. It is the swelling of the prostate that produces the seminal fluid. It can be categorized into either acute or chronic prostatitis, bacterial or non- bacterial prostatitis. When no bacteria are present it is referred to as non-bacterial prostatitis. However, if prostatitis keeps on recurring it is termed as chronic prostatitis.
Interstitial cystitis. This is a severe bladder condition which causes a lot of pain in the pelvic region. It also comes with an increased urge to urinate. The magnitude of pain caused as a result of this disease could range from mild to severe.
Cystocele. This infection occurs when the floor muscles and tissues of the bladder are stretched and become weak. The main symptoms of this disease are increased urge to pass urine and leakage of unwanted urine.
Bladder cancer. It is a type of urologic disease that attacks the cells that lines on the bladder. Bladder cancer causes painless hematuria. Its symptoms include back and abdominal pain, urinary tract infection that keeps re-occurring, painful and frequent urination. One of the most risk factors that lead to the development of bladder cancer is smoking.
