Love to get in on this, though I just made my guild site so getting my guild members to sign up is a bit slow. Still as I tend to be in transit alot due to work and how my guild members keep odd hours this could solve alot of communication problems between me and them.
I've responded to this three of four times but got no response.
Have qualified smartphone and submitted detailed info at least twice but no reply.
I and TESG are very interested.
RSVP to Auldjohn, Elder Sage, TESG on GL or at least send a reply so I can give you my e-mail address and phone specs again.
GL has already mentioned in the Android 4 Beta preview posts that since Android has the largest installed base at present, the first Beta is for Android 4.0 or later. Even Android users may not feel "special" -- no Android support before 4.x, and no Tablet support for now.
When the Android version is launched, an iOS iPhone beta will soon follow according to the GL notes and updates about the Android Beta. No iPads for the iPhone Beta, either.
From what I can gather, they are focusing on a single platform at a time, and only the most prevalent, installed version.
As a retired IT Pro and Consultant with experience managing mission critical software development, I feel they have a wise approach. I was also project manager for beta testing and implementation of hardware, software and infrastructure for Fortune 500 business, telecommunications, and healthcare industries. I used a similar approach.
iOS has the second largest installed base. It makes sense if GL follows the release of the Android version with a Beta for the iPhone's current OS at the time. Windows phone has just a tiny fraction of the smartphone market, and while Blackberry used to be a major player, their presence is dwindling rapidly and RIMs future is in question.
These comments are my personal opinion only. Hopefully Guild Launch technical support will respond to these threads. Even if you disagree with me, I hope my perspective is helpful.
