WowStead Migration Data Now Live!
If you haven't seen the data migrated to your Guild Launch site, forward the email you received about the migration to support@guildlaunch.com - I can manually link them up on our end.
The forum data isn't currently movable to your actual Guild Launch forums, but it's something we're working on. We wanted to get the data live on your sites so you'd know it was actually there, and there should be functionality in place soon to move it out to the actual forums.
News data was not part of the migration, but we did pull over forum data, gallery images and your paid WowStead time.

None of my forum topics have moved over.. and now the wowstead site is down. I guess I should have been more proactive but I was assured by your emails that it would be transferred over...
ugg and ignore that old siggy
. I have no idea how to fix that atm.
edit: I forwarded the email, will update if need be.

thank you very much!
No worries, the data is still accessible even now that WowStead has shut down. Once I get that email (I have a few in my inbox that I'm going to look into now), I can link them up manually and you'll be set.

thank you very much!
hi,
after reading these posts, i went back and checked my archived posts. most of them seem to be there, but everything after a certain date (sometime in early august 2013) is missing.
perhaps it was things posted after you migrated? if so, is there a way to go back and pick up the more recent posts?
thanks and very happy to be away from wowstead's brand of customer service...

hai!
I know you are busy but I'd like to have an update about the transfer
do we have any ETA? or should we just manually copy the forums (which at this time is the same thing)
on my datas, as far as i can read on others as well, are missing some or many replies from old and new posts, ofc not counting ones after 12th of August.

As far as the missing posts go, the migration cutoff for data was August 12th; anything after that date was not migrated.
I don't have an ETA for the functionality to move the forum posts out of the WowStead archive, but it's one of the things we are actively working on.

I first want to say I have been impressed by the support we have received in transitioning from wowstead. Our guild really appreciates it.
I know I asked about a WYSIWYG forum editor in a previous post and was told "There's not currently a WYSIWYG editor, but our developers are actively looking into it now that we're wrapping up the migration itself." And while I totally know this the migration and transitions have been a lot of work, and I am okay being patient, I also recently found this declined feature request:
"Add A Full Featured WYSIWYG Editor for Forums--
I'm reiterating my request for a fully featured, robust WYSIWYG text editor for the forums. Let's face it, the GL forums are user unfriendly by today's GUI standards or at least by people's expectations."
Which was declined back in May "GL_Slater (Support, Guild Launch) responded · May 9, 2013
We’ve looked into the possibility of introducing it, but it’s not something that we currently plan to implement."
I would just like some additional clarification on whether this is actually something you are planning to implement. My guild has been really unsatisfied with the editor for the forums, as most of them are not highly tech savvy and are having a difficult time doing any of the functionality we had with wowstead.
Additionally, we discovered that there is some of this functionality already available for the custom pages you can create, but it isn't in the forums.
To the extent possible, I would really appreciate knowing whether the WYSISYG text editor is a feature that will be implemented in the future so we can decide as a guild whether we want to look for other guild hosting sites that are luddite friendly.
Again, we appreciate it.

We had originally decided against it a few months ago (before we had set up the WowStead transfer), but now that it's come up again our developers are taking a deeper look into the possibility of implementing it. I know that as of a week ago it was actively in a development sprint so that we could scope it out and get the ball rolling on it.

I know you folks are hard at work (and we do appreciate all the work you're doing in making this transfer as smooth as possible), but I was just wondering if there's any kind of ETA on removing these images the transfer duplicated.
And if it would make things easier, you could just wipe out the whole gallery (since I can't) and allow me to re-run the import.
Thanks again

So, this is a huge mess. I have thousands of images when in reality it's only a couple/few dozen.

Hello,
I see so many pleased customers in this thread, so it makes me frustrated that my experience with guildlaunch has been so poor. Its almost 4 weeks since the official transfer date and my guild still doesn't have our 1) paid time transferred, nor 2) the correct forum data. Emailing support, I get platitudes and assurances but no results. I believe I've been more than patient (4 weeks now for a website setup) but this is really getting ridiculous. Since email is not producing results, I wanted to post here to see if a developer is actually making progress on my site's issues.

As far as the image gallery goes, it should be patched up in the next release.
For the paid time issue, it's still something that's on our development team's plate and they are looking into it. There have been some delays and I apologize for that, and will let you know when they get it squared away.

Hi all,
I'm GM for a casual guild, don't have time to constantly update myself on latest progress of the transfer. Am I correct all (mostly complete, in my case) wowstead forum data is still neatly packed as an archive in the forum section, but the import feature (announced in quite a few posts as "coming soon", or "possibly next week") is not online yet ?
Not flaming, just wondering whether I didn't dig deep enough, or it's simply not there ? (and no, I have no intention to re-create all the architecture and sort 3 years of posts manually..)
Did I miss something ?
Cheers

You didn't miss anything, the forum data is still only accessible as an archive. It's a joke and I'm pretty frustrated about it too. No ETA and any progress so far with it. I'm pretty dissatisfied with the fact that Widgets got no configuration ( wth, we cant even change the size of things like shoutbox, forget any templates for it or editing the way it displays the shouts ... which is by default -> horrible. So does forum widget ... ). The basic funcionality of Wowstead was posting and participating in the site as a WoW Character, and in here it's totally missing too, we dont even get such a silly small thing like class-coloured nicknames in "whos online" or forums ... And the forums are horrible in design and configuration is barely-existent. And yeah, I'm whining a bit because from my perspective Guildlaunch is not meeting the expected wowstead level and they don't look like they even want to ...
