Rapid Raid
README: Rapid Raid FAQ
Rapid Raid
Rapid Raid, Guild Launch's raid/DKP tracking system, has a simple power to it that sometimes confuses people. Though, it is a very open ended system that is not without its complexities, it is pretty straightforward once you learn a few concepts.
This FAQ will try to remove some of that confusion and lay open the simplicity within the system.
This FAQ is currently 2 parts:
This is Part 1
Part 2 is a sample raid walkthrough
At it's core Rapid Raid tracks 4 things:
1. Raids
2. The "Events" that occur in raids
3. Who attended those events
3. The items that may or may not drop on each event
FAQs
Q. What does the View Raids screen do?
A. The raids page lists all raids, the sum of the events points the date the raid occured and signups for the raid.
Q. What does the View Members page do?
A. The view members page shows all members who have attended at least one event. It shows their basic class info, level, DKP earned, DKP spent, and their current DKP. The page also shows the date of their last raid, their attendance in the last 30 days and their attendance in the last 60 days.
Q. What does the View Items page do?
A. The View items page show all items that have been recorded by Rapid Raid. It shows the name, the date it dropped, the buyer, the amount paid for it, the raid it dropped in and the event it is associated with. If the item drops multiple times for instance in multiple raids it will show multiple times on this page.
Q. What doed the Add New Raid page do?
A. This page allows you to create a raid for any date past or present. It takes a raid name, a date and a time as well as an optional signup instruction.
Q. What does the Import a Raid page do?
A. If your guild is a WoW guild you can use our in-game mod to import raid data from a modified version of CT Raid Tracker. This will get it's own FAQ later.
Q. What does the Manage Event Types page do?
A. The event types page lets you add default event settings. It takes an Event Name, and Type, and a default Vaule. The default value can be overridden when you add an event to a raid.
This page also allows you to enter a Default 1 and Default 2 value. Some guilds use Default 1 for normal mode and Default 2 for heroic. When adding an event or importing a raid you can choose which default set to use.
The first time an event is imported (if you are using the Raid Tracker in WoW) the vent is entered with a default of 0. You can go to the manage event types page and edit the default and the next time that same event is imported the new default will be used. Note: Updating a default value will not retroactively update events so you may need to manually update the first imported event.
Q. Ok... so can you walk me through adding a Molten core raid, please?
A. Sure thing. But, it's a school night and the raid leader is tired... and MC is soooo last year so we're only going up to Lucifron (who's hardly a boss anyway.... dang premadonna raid leaders). Go to the Rapid Raid Sample Raid Walkthrough thread to see the walkthrough.
Q. None of my guild members show up on the Available Members list. What gives?
A. Only members set to "Raid Eligible" in the character list on Guild Admin Members show on this list. This means also that the character must be in the guild to show on the list. The system is setup this way so that you can filter out alts, non raiding guild characters, or members who take a long break.
Q. I've made my raiders eligible but no one shows on the Members list in the Rapid Raid area.?
A.
(As of 1/10/2009) The requirement for characters to be on the Raid Roster for a pool is now a per pool configurable option. If you turn it off then any Raid Eligible character on the Character List will show on the All Members DKP page and other pages. If the options is on then the character must be Raid Eligible and be on the Raid Roster.
(As of 12/10/2008) Characters must be added to your Raid Roster in the Rapid Raid area on the site to show by default on the Members list.
(Prior to 12/10/2008) Only characters that are set as "Raid Active" on the Character List on the Admin Memebrs tab show on the default Members DKP page.
Q. Can I use Rapid Raid just to track loot and boss kills?
A. Definitely. Just enter 0 for everything relating to value and the system will do just that.
Q. We do open bidding, can rapid raid handle this?
A. Yes, but really that is something you have to manage in-game. Once the final price and who won the item is detemined all that information can be entered. The Rapid Raid system doesn't rely on the method in which the buyer and the item's value were determined it just records them.
Q. It is my understanding in order to put dkp onto the website you can only award items/points to those who have made characters on the website. If this is the case is there anyway i can manually enter a character so that i can show what items they were awarded?
A.You can add the characters to your own account and award them DKP. You can then unclaim them on the characters tab in your user profile and let members claim them later if/when they join the site.
Q. Can we track 10 mans seperate from 25 mans? Or can we have different situations where the members use different DKP for different instances? In EPGP, can we set Rapid Raid up so that different instances use different priorities?
A.We support the concept of DKP pools which would allow you to completely seperate your DKP into entirely seperate systems. It will be as if you had two DKP systems. You can turn another pool on by going to Admin->Content Tab and clicking on the "DKP Pools" link on the left.
Q. Can you set a cutoff time for signups?
A.Rapid Raid doesn't support an 'enforced' signup time. The system will allow people to signup at any time. However, the system allows you to enter a signup deadline and anyone who signs up after that deadline is flagged as "Late" on the signup screen. This allows you to enforce a signup deadline but to also have some flexibility.
Q. Can I register everyone online for a boss kill? Or, OMGZ EVERYONE in my guild is being tracked on each boss kill!!!1!!1!
A. CT_RaidTracker has a setting on the "/rt options" screen that says "Log Guild Attendees". It is almost at the bottom of the options screen. Check that if you want to track all the guild members on boss kills. Uncheck that if you don't want to track all guild members on boss kills.
Q. Can I make the Rapid Raid area viewable only by my members?
A. Yes, go into Admin, Permissions Tab. On the left click "Member Only Content". From there you can select which parts of your site are Member only or Public.

Put the point value spent on an item in the Price field for the item or into the NOTE field for the item. The price field is preferred and if you enable the "Request Price" popup in the "/rt options" screen then it is very easy.
The import will get the prices from the Price field if it is set to a number, and will import from the NOTE field if the note field is a number. If you type text like "DKP:20" into the note field it will not import since that isn't a number. It should only be "20".

I have a question in the setup of raids.
The current raid management we have is PHPraider and in that there is settings so we can put ppl on approved for raid or waiting for raid and then the class leaders of each class would pick out the ppl they feel is right for the raid.
How do I do that with the Rapid Raid?

Give your raid leaders "Rapid Raid" privliges by creating a permission group, adding the raid leaders to the group and then adding the rapid raid permissions on the Content permissions for the group.
Then your raid leader can setup signup groups for a raid on the signups screen for each raid. You can also save the groups as a template so you can quickly use it on any raid.
Then, your raid leaders can move people from the signups to the group indicating they are approved for the raid.
Once they do it a few times it's even easier than it sounds.

I am new to using this system. I have one question for now, and can addmore specific ones depending on this reply.
Currently, all characters per account seem to get included. I would like to have skp be awarded to a single account, and not to a person's main and every alt character that he may raid with occasionally.
Example: Tom isone person's main raiding character. He ttends a raid for 1 hour, and then swap's to his alt, Dick. Both Tom and Dick recieve separate DKP awards. I would want Tom to get full credit, and Dick to get none.
Is there a way to get the site to recognize accounts, rather than individual characters per account?

I know that tomorrow there will be an update regarding attendance tracking, so maybe this is moot. Or maybe I just don't understand how this all works.
Anyway, we want to set up raids so that we give points for time spent in raid. I can't figure out how to do this without messing up the raid attendance percents.
I thought that if the event type was not "Attendance" it would not affect the attendance percentages or the list of attendees, but I appear to be wrong. or am I missing something?
Or, should I just wait until tomorrow?

That report is available from the "Attendance by Event" link on the left navigation in rapid raid.

Thanks for the reply.
Ok, my problem (using my example in above post) is that both Tom and Dick get the same DKP reward, when at minimum they should share the same one reward. If the DKP credit for the entire events was say 6 points, each of these characters get that 6 points. A merge later would still give the one "main" character double the reward.

This is actually how our merge system works. If the two characters attend the same event, then the source character's attendance gets tossed out so that they have the intersection of their attendance (and DKP), not the sum.

Hello.
First I would like to congratulate the GuildLaunch team for the awesome job and effort to put up a site like this.
Since the first raids, that my guild has been signing up at Rapid Raid. However we used a separate loot system (Ni-Karma), with the last updates to Rapid Raid I believed that it would be worth using the features provided.
Since we've been using Rapid Raid to sign up, the default pool has over 100 raids. I would like to delete this database, without having to click 300 times in order to delete every single raid posted in that pool.
Is there a simple way to completely remove a pool?

We don't currently have a way to completely nuke a DKP pool, though I plan to add it soon. What we generally recommend is that you just create a new pool. This you get a new, empty, shiny pool to work with.
BTW, I noticed that you had some old characters from Boulderfist that you were working with. If you go to Admin->Members->Character List then you can set those old characters to be raid inactive and raid ineligible. This will make it so people can't signup with the character and the character won't show up in the members list.

Thank you for the reply.
Well I did create a new pool, which I'm currently using. However Ad-Supported Sites are limited to 2 Pools, so I'm stuck with just one. For now it's alright, I'm just testing the features it provides. Perhaps that "pool nuking" option will be up by the time I need it.
Thank you for the advice on the characters, didn't remember that solution. I simply removed them all from the guild. At least the character list won't be pilled with unused characters.
I'll be looking forward for new updates on Rapid Raid.
Once more, thank you for your time and attention on this matter.
