I'm currently trying to edit the opacity of the chat widget (specifically the chatbox itself, not the entire widget) to have it stick out less on my site (http://kirin-dal.gamerlaunch.com/). I'm attempting to use CSS to customise it, as the option to make it transparent isn't available in the basic configuration. However when I implement the following code:
It sets all the box to 90% opacity, including the send button, which I'd like to avoid. Does anybody know how I might set an exception to just the send button to prevent this from happening?
Have you tried using the custom colours option in the site editing section? If you untick the generate colours option, you can select a variety of colours and opacities for various parts of your site.
Alternatively if you use Firefox you can use Firebug or no doubt there's others out there for various browsers) where you can highlight the area you want to change the opacity of, so you can determine what that area is called.
We tried that, but unfortunately it affects all the buttons on the site, not just that one, and there is no way as far as I've seen to edit buttons individually via the colour editor.
When applied separately, we can modify the button itself (when there is CSS just for the button), but when both CSS elements are put together they don't seem to work in tandem.
Ahh :-( To be honest we no longer use the chat widget .. we had problems with the way it appeared on mobile devices - it may have changed now, but it was showing ALL chat, not just the last X number. From what I recall, I did have some problems with the look of that widget myself - I'll have a look back and see if I can find the conversation/fix.
Generally we now use a mix of the website forums, and a guild discord channel - I'm hoping at some point in the future I'll be able to either embed the discord channel onto the site or have some sort of widget reflecting the text chat parts of it (I know Discord users have been asking for such a widget for some time).
Okay I've had a look back through my conversations .. I can't find the specific one I was thinking of, but I suspect I'm getting confused between the Chat widget and the Shoutbox anyway :p It was the shoutbox we were having problems with, and more than likely some of the problems were when we were on the old V4 version of the site anyway, so not really relevant. We didn't find the Chat option very useful so haven't used it for ages.
If you don't get a relatively quick answer here, you could always either email support or use the "live" chat bubble bottom right of your website screen.
