Import Automation broken?
We're trying out another fix for auto imports now. It's a difficult process to debug. Hopefully this tweak will fix it. If not, we'll give it more attention after Christmas!
Now that you're back, is there any progress on this? Mine is still saying the last update was 7th December. I'm going to be doing a manual update at some point in the near future, because it's causing problems with rapid raid uploads, but I was leaving it in case you needed someone to confirm whether an automated one had been done.
I have figured it out!
Auto imports have been running successfully since our update before Christmas. What was causing confusing is the last import date shown on your imports results page only shows the last manual import date, not the auto import date. Going forward, I'm adding a line to that page that shows the auto imported date, if you have one.
If you can confirm that characters are not being updated over night by the auto import, let me know. I can't find any evidence that the import isn't properly running.

Ah cool .. Yes it does actually seem to be working properly. I did think it odd that, although the import date had not changed, my rapid raid upload last night worked without it flagging up someone "not in the guild". I've checked by looking for a newly invited character, and they're showing, so the import in that respect now appears to be working.
It would be good for that import page to actually show the full information about imports. I notice the last one I did "manually" claims we had no changed made to the roster:
Last Updated: 2016-12-07 07:10:03 (Central Standard Time)
Characters Imported: 0
Characters Updated: 0
Characters Deleted: 0
I seriously doubt that was the case as there's always SOME change to the roster, even if it's just a character update. But I can't remember that far back so perhaps I did two in quick succession, for some strange reason.
Auto-imports still do not appear to be working correctly. We had someone leave the guild on 4th February, yet they're still showing on the roster. I've checked, and they're not on the Armories roster.
*snip* ... I've been unable to actually post evidence directly, as I've been blocked because I'm apparently a spammer until I've made 10 posts. I'm pretty sure I've made 10 posts before now .. and ironic that I get blocked, but spam posts still come through ..... !!
Could you look into this please?
If I know the auto-imports aren't going to work, then I won't assume they're working and will attempt to ensure I do them manually, however, I was under the assumption they'd been fixed.
Unfortunately, as the "Import Results" page only shows the date and time of the last manual update, and not the last update (manual OR automatic), then without going through the roster and double checking manually, it's not easy to work out if the auto-import has worked.
Looking at the import dates however, and the dates that it has not updated for, I'm assuming it hasn't happened since the last time I did a manual update (on the 13th January). I have to assume that the last character mentioned above, that left on or prior to the 13th, perhaps was still showing on the Armories on that date, or they left just after I did the manual import.
PS .. I tried posting that and got the following error message:
Our Akismet filter has flagged this posts as spam. This check is made until you have 10 posts. Excessive links can set off the spam filter.
Pretty sure I've made more than 10 posts.
Hey Poison!
I'm looking at the dates and your settings and your auto import is definitely running every morning at 2AM EST, 7AM GMT your time.
Maybe try checking off the Import Roster Only checkmark. Maybe that has something to do with why characters who leave the guild are not appropriately being removed on your daily import. I believe having that unchecked means that it is also trying to update gear as well and maybe that is getting in the way of removing characters who have left.
At this point we know your daily import is running, the question remains that is it importing the proper things and removing the proper characters.
Okay I've checked that button so that it does *only* the roster import now. However, even if that works, it suggests that part of the import process is broken. If the automatic sync is unable to actually sync when that option is left open, then either that option should not be given, or there should be additional information shown that states that it is a "gear update OR roster sync" choice.
Having said that .. I've never had to do this before (prior to these recent problems) so either something has changed at your end, or at the Blizzard end.
I'll check again in the morning to see if this makes any difference, and report back.
I've checked again this morning and, in theory, it has done it's import. I'm not very good with time zones though .. it is showing:
Last Updated: 2017-02-17 07:07:35 (Central Standard Time)
However, as of the time of writing this, when I checked central standard time it said that it was 03:37 - which is several hours BEFORE the import said it happened. Perhaps this is causing problems? Or perhaps I'm misreading it?
Regardless, assuming it has done another sync since I changed the option suggested, it still hasn't worked. It has added a new character to the guild, so that part of it is working, but there are characters I know are not there - I double checked the Armories too - yet they're still showing on the website roster.
For example, character name Abbinia left the guild some time ago, is no longer showing on the Armories, but is still showing on our roster. I did wonder if perhaps it was stuck in the admin page where we have to manually remove some characters - but rather surprisingly there's nothing there (and I suspect there should be).
Yup .. I've checked again.
I've not done a manual import, the Import Results page is showing:
Last Updated: 2017-02-20 07:10:05 (Central Standard Time)
Characters Imported: 0
Characters Updated: 737
Yet that character (and no doubt several others) mentioned in my previous post is still showing as being a member on the website roster.
Either my settings are wrong, or yours are.
I have "import roster only" ticked, yet it's updating characters (737, as above) - which is actually at the time of writing this, the exact number of characters showing on the Armories as on our roster. So it is obviously linking correctly to our guild Armories page. It's just failing to remove characters that are no longer on the roster.
The admin page for reports > import results shows:
This page shows you characters on your site's character roster that are not in your last import. This information can also be useful for determining if a character or member should be removed from your guild site. How you use this information is ultimately up to you. If your guild site only has members that are also members in-game then this information should be quite accurate as a list of members who can be removed. If instead you have alliance members and raid alliance members, etc. then this information may not be as useful, but it will still provide a more focused list of characters and members that should be looked at. Ultimately you will have to make the decision.
Last Import Result
All characters were found or no import has been ran.
Well, you are still okay that you`re able to at least import the roster. For our main game, Guild Wars 2, we can`t even import anything, no support at all provided for that game. And most likely is due to Arenanet not allowing the game data parsing. Still, we have an unpleasant problem. Functionality is "there", but can`t use it.

Speak to GL if you think there should be this capability for your game. It does depend on whether the data is available for them to import though ...
According to GL's feature list, Guild Wars 2 does have support here:
Guild Wars 2
After a long history of supporting guilds in the original Guild Wars, Gamer Launch is thrilled to provide our full suite of services, including game-specific templates, race & class specific signatures and item hovers, for those continuing their Tyrian adventures in ArenaNet's long-awaited Guild Wars 2.
Exactly my point, it depends on data availability. To clarify the issue: it`s Arena Net to blame for, not the host-site. My post above says "Functionality is "there", but can`t use it" and it reads "This site provides the tools for importing data from that game, but he game producer doesn`t allow parsing of in-game certain data". ANet doesn`t even provide a server-status feature for GW2 game.
To explain in more detail, when I try the using the Import roster feature, it says"This functionality is not yet available for your game." (talking about Guild Wars 2, with the game set as primary.) Revenant class icon still missing and can`t add one. No server status available.
So the "full suite of services" you mention cannot offer much for this game, but it`s not our host here to blame for it.
But this thread is about a previous problem with the imports of data that CAN be imported.
I linked the GL information regarding the support they have for your game, because you specifically stated "no support at all provided for that game". I was demonstrating that they do support the game, although as now both of us have mentioned, they can't provide support for something that isn't available. No host can.
We're having some problems now caused by the roster/Armories sync not working. It doesn't seem to be adding new characters to the roster so I'm having to get them added during a rapid raid import, and we've had one member complain because he had a paladin in the guild .. deleted it, and then created a new character (a warlock) .. but the sync has not picked up that change .. he's still showing as a paladin. So when he went to check the rapid raid info, initially he couldn't see himself on the list, because he's down as a paladin :p
Is there a timeline for when the roster sync is going to be fixed?
