I've had complaints from my guild members recently and have noticed a couple of instances myself where forum replies that seem to have gone through fine, aren't there later when the page is refreshed. This is tremendously frustrating as you can imagine and adds to the overall slightly flaky feel of the Guildlaunch experience. Forums are long established technology and should be rock solid.
I'm afraid that it happens rarely enough that I've been unable to find steps to recreate the error.
Also, the shoutbox issue where it adds unparsed html formatting to shouts if you make them from a forum page is still ongoing.
Can you please link a forum topic where this happened? I have not seen a report of this occurring before so I'm starting at square one on this. Are you absolutely sure the post has been submitted, and it doesn't have a CAPTCHA or other type of notification? I really don't know how a post could be entered and then disappear. Have you checked in the lockbox to make sure they aren't being deleted by another moderator or something like that?
The forum thread where I noticed it happen was this one: http://www.revolutions-guild.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=10842522&p=37718135&gid=241710#37718135
I can't be certain that it posted fully and normally but certainly nothing happened after I clicked submit that was different enough from what was expected to make me double check so I don't think there was any notifications. The awkward thing is that one only notices a missing post later when it's too late to check that nothing unusual happened but I'll certainly be on the lookout.
I checked and there's nothing in the lockbox.
I've take a quick look at this and I don't see any clear indications in the data. If the post is seen on the page, then it is in the database. We don't do anything like update via client side and write separately to the database. I really have no idea why this would be happening. If you see it happen again, could you please post here as soon as possible so maybe I can catch it at that moment?
