Gravatar Icons
We had someone apply recently who, apparently, didn't pick their own avatar (most people don't, when they first apply), yet he ended up with one that was a bit questionable. Having looked into it, it's a possibility it was one of those automatically assigned ones?

Now doing some research, I've found that it's representative of a "Grammar Nazi" ... however, I don't think it should be something that should be automatically applied to random people applying to join the guild and I'm concerned there are others in there that are also questionable. Apart from anything else, it gives the suggestion that the person applying may be something they're not.
Is it possible to filter these to ensure we don't get anything similar in the future?
That's not possible to be a default gravatar. That would have to have been uploaded manually.
Gravatar default avatars use what's called Identicons. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Identicon
I haven't done any moderation of gravatar icons before, I would have to investigate how to manually change an image. Let me know if you need me to change it manually. I don't see that icon being used in an recent applications on your site now.
Hope this helps!

I contacted the applicant, who stated they had not uploaded, at that time, any avatar. He doesn't recognise the image, but the only thing I can think is that he has, in the past, chosen that image for another site where he could upload his own Gravatar, and that has pulled through to here?
Anyway .. once it was flagged as an issue, he changed it before we accepted his application. More curious, now, how it ended up there in the first place.
