How do I create a multi game site?
My guild is in 6 games.
I'd like unique applications and calendars for each game.
Two of the games, DDO and Neverwinter have Alliances.
How do I set it up?
Just for your information (although the main support page does mention it), GL support operate during normal working hours and days. They're potentially also in a different time zone to you. They do occasionally pop up and help out during their "down time", but don't expect it. They should be around and starting to monitor the forums again Monday.
There are multiple options to gain support, including emailing them direct and using the little chat bubble on your guild website.
I don't know if there is a specific way to do what you're wanting on one site - personally I'd probably set up one site for each game and then possibly have another site as a central hub, giving links to all the other sites, together with a central forum hub.
That would give each game its own calendar and related widgets etc and, if you wanted, it's own specific forum.
The only down side would be that if someone wanted to be a member of more than one of these websites (say the "hub" site and one or two others), they've have to actually sign up for each of them (although you can set up a launch code (password) so they don't have to go through an application process each time).
Having had a VERY quick look at the GL advertising, it seems possible to create one website that would change depending on which game the person logged in played - but that option seems to mainly be available to subscription sites.
I'm assuming you set that up via the Admin > Dashboard then "manage games" in the "Games Played" section.
Thank you for your opinion. Im still lost though.
Here's my site. Its a shivTR site. One page and 6 games. However there's issues with it.
I dont mind 6 different sites. I am willing to pay for ONE site but I couldnt ever afford 6 sites :)
I need 6 different applications one for each game as well...
Did you link a site there? Couldn't see one. I don't know what a shivTR site is, sorry.
You can get virtually all functionality on a free site, although you will have adverts.
Have you tried the suggestion above of adding extra "Games Played"?
I did and Im not getting anywhere I dont see the features I need. Not seeing multi guild game features.
Here's the site I though I did link it... sorry :)
tyrspaladium dot shivtr dot com
This website is marking my link spam, this is VERY aggravating. Im about going to give up here...
"Excessive links can set off the spam filter.:
Ive only tried to post ONE LINK!!!!
I'm pretty sure Shivtr isn't Gamerlaunch. They're two seperate companies? Are you trying to duplicate your site on Shivtr, here on Gamerlaunch? Is that what you're asking?
Did you try adding the additional games through the admin panel of your site?
Under "Games Played" in admin it says: "Your primary game is the game that shows by default. This game and guild/clan/kinship/corp etc. info was set when you created your site. It can be updated, but if you are playing multiple games we suggest that you add them as a multi-game option so that recruiting and informational options become available to you."
Then if you "Add" a secondary game it comes up with some boxes to fill in for the game, guild name, server, etc, and the note: "Note: If your game supports imports then please make sure the name matches the name in-game or on the import site. Mismatches will cause import errors. If your site covers two guilds on the same game and server you can use the note field to differentiate them with notes like 'PvP' or 'Raiding Guild', etc."
Does that not work?
As for multigame sites on Gamerlaunch - it must be possible because if you Google it, there are plenty of sites there:
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=guildlaunch+multigame
If you're unable to work out how to do it (and without actually amending my site and having another game to link to, I can't attempt to do it for you) then your best bet is to either send support an email support@gamerlaunch.com or use the "bubble chat" button at the bottom right corner of your screen to contact them direct. If they are currently unable to do specifically what you want, they have a suggestions site where you can request new features: https://guildlaunch.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/34522-how-do-i-request-a-feature
I certainly would suggest that, as you're having problems, it would be worth them putting together a guide for this, as I've not been able to find one.
As for the forum problems - the support forums have been a bit stroppy for a while - GL are aware of it.
As an addendum - I've also sent a message to support asking for them to review this for you. Hopefully someone will look into it.
Thank you for your opinion. Im still lost though.

Hi,
Sorry for not getting to you earlier.
Unfortunately, each site can only have one application. You can add as many games as you would like to your site but you can only have one primary game per site. You can create as many sites as you would like for free, then link to each of them from all of your sites.
We do allow for site alliance integration. You can do this from the admin dash-> features-> alliance.

Is there an explanation somewhere as to exactly what happens when you "add a game"? I've added a game on a test site, but it was basically the same game as the primary game, just a different guild. That gave a drop down on the roster that would show the roster of whichever guild I wanted to select. I don't know what, if any, other additions or options would occur.
The same goes for site alliances ... is there a description somewhere that explains those in depth?
I'm curious as to the phrasing of the text within the admin panel: "if you are playing multiple games we suggest that you add them as a multi-game option so that recruiting and informational options become available to you." - because that suggests seperate recruiting options will become available when you add games ....? Is this simply badly worded, or just old wording that is no longer relevant?
I do think it is something that is lacking a little, here. I understand the reason why - you guys are so busy working on the guts of things that you don't have the time to do anything but the most basic help guides - but I've found in the past when I've done help guides that they're best done when everything is fresh and you still remember all the little ins and outs of the feature you're trying to explain. It gets a lot harder years down the road (which I guess is another reason).
But guides for stuff like this would help keep subscribers and potential subscribers around - some (most?) people see an advert on your site saying it can easily do something, but then if THEY can't easily work out how to do it, they'll just give up and move on, especially if there's no easily accessible guide/help.

I don't think alliance sites would be relevant here though - the OP wishes to create a multi-game site and, having looked at the alliance option, that is creating linked sites that are for the same game and server as the parent site. It does sound ideal, in some ways, if it worked across games as well, but according to the text in the admin panel, it doesn't:
Create New Alliance Site
If you choose this option a new guild site will be created that is the same game and server as this site. The owner of this site will be given site creator and admin status to the newly created site and the site you are currently on will become the first member site of that alliance. The Alliance name for these purposes will be the name of the guild site. Enter the name of the alliance and click submit. The alliance site will be created, this site will be added as the first member site. You can then go to that site to admin the site.
Then this company doesnt offer "full multi game support" like it advertises.
Each game we have a guild in NEED a separate application for each game.

If you could explain exactly what you need, that cannot be provided by having a site per game set up connected via a central hub site? Which does appear, from outside appearances, to be what your current Shivtr site is?
I'm sure if you could explain it, it could at least be looked at by the GL team to see if it was possible to add that functionality ...
@Commodore64 - just to prove it's very easy to set up seperate sites for each of your games, and then link them, just as you currently have at Shivtr, I've spent half an hour or so making two test sites so you can see, copying the layout roughly of your current one:
http://petest.guildlaunch.com/index.php?gid=521190
http://petest2.guildlaunch.com/index.php?gid=521191
I've done a test link with two games externally, to the sites you already have, and then a link between the two sites using SWTOR and DDO.
This is how you're currently set up at Shivtr, as far as I can tell.
Depending on how much you play each game - to be honest I'd be more tempted to make one site for each game, PLUS a hub site. You could pay subs for the hub site, so you can do what you like with it and not have adverts on it, and treat it as a central area where information for the whole community can be gathered. Then you can use the other sites as offshoots with their own specific application forms, news items and forums for those who are ONLY interested in that game.
I'd be tempted to put news items on the hub site that directs people elsewhere .. for example if there is some breaking news or special event happening in one of the games, you can mention it as an announcement, together with a link to the actual site for that game for more information and discussion.
You could also set it so that you only use the forum on the one hub site, but have seperate sections for specific games.
I think the only thing that might slow you down, other than having admin related to several sites (although that would be inevitable anyway, I suspect, if you're dealing with multiple games), is the fact that if a member joins, say, your SWTOR guild, they would also have to register with your hub site (although that can be done very easily using a password).
