Hi, is there an ETA on when the styled themes will be implemented?
They help give our sites a lot more personality, and are a large reason I enjoyed supporting this site... It's very disappointing to me that this feature has been unavailable for so long now.
My guild recently went into an alliance with another guild, and I would like to make an allied website for them with your services, but the templates aren't dynamic anymore, so it just turns out looking... half-assed compared to my own guild's website. It comes off to me as condescending and disrespectful and I wish I could give them more :(
This conversation was had back in early January, and DicZiT knows exactly what I mean. But after 5 months I still see no return of those beautiful themes...
...with the manage style you can change the header image, the general color of the site or the fonts color, change the columns alignement and that's all, if i wan't different form buttons to my primary navigation (home, rapidraid, calendar etc) i can't change them, with the old version we were able to choose a diferent pre-made template with diferent buttons , the v5 is more for pros who can make changes directly in the css
an exemple : this is my actual pre-made template
if i wan't to put this one to have that form of buttons, navigation bar or columns, i can't
in the manage style we don't have the possibility of changing that, only minor changes are possible
the two styles are completely diferents and without css knowledge i can't do that changes, with the old version it was easily possible
We do plan on adding more options to V5 customization, but I couldn't call it a quick process.
Just so you understand a little bit more of our reasoning behind V5, this is a major design principle we wanted to achieve. It is very very easy to make a good looking site in V5, and it is very difficult to make an ugly one. In V4, it's basically the opposite. It's extremely easy to make an ugly site in V4, but if you put a lot of effort in and have a knack for design, you can make a really incredible site. We basically stream lined as much as we could for V5, making it less versatile over all. I personally like simple, but understand why deep complicated functionality is good as well.
If there are some features of V4 customization that you sorely miss, you can always switch back to it if you prefer! You can do this in your Admin Menu->Site Settings->Global Settings page. The option is called "Site Layout Version:". Switch it from V5 to V4, and it will swap over! It even saves the customization settings for both as you switch between them so no worries on losing your work.
