How do I delete this. I don't have a use for it at all and don't want it there, but it shows N/A in the area to delete.

But doesn't this use our storage space. Also this is the first I have seen of this. It wasn't there before like a week ago.

The forum is setup by default as visible only by Forum Moderators. Which typically is only the Guild Admin. So, unless you change the permissions for the forum or grant someone else Forum Modertator on the Members tab they will not be able to see it.
Each deleted post has a timer on it. The timing is currently 45 days then they are auto deleted. There is no manual delete.

Are the contents of the delete box see-able by all members or only admins?
Can this be cleaned out manually or will it be cleamed auto? If so, how often?

It is a new feature we added last week in the 7.0 release. Forum posts do not use up your space. In addition, the post will eventually be deleted. This feature just puts a delay on it.

I think a manual delete option should be given. It's one thing to have the safety net...it's another for useless deletions to sit around for 45 days.

We're looking into adding a manual delete option or an option to adjust the timing. The other purpose of this functionality is to have a safety net against malicious deletions which is largely defeated by offering a manual delete. Due to this we added the lockbox and made it so the posts don't show anywhere.
So, unless I'm misunderstanding how you all are experiencing the functionality they sit around doing and effecting absolutely nothing.
Posts in the lockbox don't show to anyone except Moderators and only if the moderators click into the lockbox forum. They don't show up in searches. They don't show up in recent posts. They sit around, yes, but they have no effect on anything at all.
It would help us to understand why it matters to you that a post sits in a forum that no one sees for a few days before it is finally deleted? It doesn't count against your space. It doesn't take up any more visual room whether they are manually deleted or automatically deleted after a few days. I'm somewhat lost on why this matters.
If you think it matters then I'm not going to argue that, but it would help me to understand more because the design of the functionality was supposed to be transparent so that it can just happen in the background. If that transparency isn't happening then we need to know why. The solution may be something other than a manual delete.

I have found one malfunction of the lock box that is driving me nuts.
I turned running of my guild over to a very trusted Officer. In my absence she did the job but made a couple of technical mistakes in our administrative process. people apply to the guild, their app is posted in our pending apps forum, people comment blah blah blah, then we decline or approve them. Once they are declined/approved their application and the comment are moved to the appropriate forum. My officer did not notice the "shadow topic" option when moving the app, and here in lies the dilemma. To get rid of the shadow topic I have to delete the entire topic, the topic is not deleted it is simply moved to the lock box, so now I have these dead links cluttering up my pending application forums, that I can't get rid of. IN the meantime I've turned subject pruning on for the lock box forum, hoping that setting it to 1 day tomorrow this mess will be cleaned up!

Just to summarize, the shadow topic is not being removed when you delete a topic? That, we should be able to fix pretty easily. Can you post a link to the topic with the issue so I can do a little research.

Hi Stephen
We have a similar issue to that posted above. Posts which are shadowed are not deleted at the same time as the original post.
More importantly for us, before the 'lockbox' we kept all apps and moved them into separate forums (accepted, declined and ex-members) and this was extremely useful. I have noticed that a couple of our declined apps have ended up in the lockbox - is there a way to stop this happening please?
Apart from those two niggles, I quite like the lockbox feature.
Thanks

We are definitely working on the shadow topic issue. It will be fixed in the next release. As for the posts, are you sure a user isn't deleting them, or you maybe have pruning turned on for that forum? There isn't any reason I know of that would cause a post to end up in the lockbox except for pruning settings or it being manually deleted.

During a forum purge, I accidently moved a Topic into the Lock Box, one that was not supposed to be either moved or deleted, these things happen : /
My current problem is that I cannot place it back in its original forum, or open and read it, so that i can copy it to a new post.
I get the Message that such actions are only available to subscription sites.
Is this intended, functionality, of this "feature"?

Yes, maintaining deleted posts takes up non-trivial database resources. We felt however that we didn't want completely remove the ability for ad-supported sites to restore posts.
