Transferring forums from another database
I'm looking to switch my guild over to guild launch but am worried about losing my current forums.
Is there a way to transfer over all the posts from my old forums so I don't lose all this information and history? I can just copy over all my stickies and such but I'd like to keep the posts made by members as well.
Thanks,
Lindz

Lindz,
Currently, we don't have a way to transfer forums over. Our phpBB forum is fully integrated with the rest of the site and the user information is not in the standard phpBB format.
I'm not going to try to tell you whether your forum data should be important to you, because that is your call. However, other guilds we have talked to have said that the forum data they have is more emotionally important than actually important. You might be able to enlist the help of a few guild members to pull over the really juicy topics, or keep your current site active long enough to give everyone a few days to pull over their "favorites." Also, if you make a dump of the posts, then if we get a converter setup you could then use it to import the dump.

Alrighty, thanks Stephen.
Some other questions I do have which I can't find answered here.
1. If someone applies for my guild and I deny their application, how do I approve it and give them access to the forums at a later date? Is it possible to give people access without using the launch code/apply method if I wanted to have an application forum instead?
2. It seems once the applications are approved/declined they disappear. Is there a way to keep the applications for our records besides copy/pasting them somewhere else?
3. Is there a Who's Online type feature so I can see who is browsing my forums and who has registered?

1. If you create a public forum it really means that anyone registered on guild launch can post in it. So a public forum is one that apps can post in without being members. They just need a Guild Launch account. The requirement for a Guild Launch account keeps spammers from posting in the forums, we'd love to have truly public forums, but it's the wild wild west in some ways on the internet.
2. Currently, they are lost to you when you decline them. Keeping track of past applications somehow is on our featrue list though. Are you more concenred with people spamming your applications or do you really want to see past applications? In other words, do you just want to make sure some person isn't appllying every month or do you actually want to read the previous apps to see "improvement" or something?
3. This is in the works, shoulde available by the end of March.

This is actually mainly so if I have a full roster, but have a promising application I can store it for when I have room open up. I like to be able to look at all my warrior applications in the past month for example if I have a warrior slot become available.
I guess I can just make an officer forum to store them in in the meantime but it would be useful to have somewhere that applications are automatically sent to for these type of situations.
